The STIHL Group’s revenue totaled 5.3 billion euros in fiscal year 2023 (previous year: 5.5 billion euros). Despite the slight year-on-year decline of 4.1 percent, revenue was still at a significantly higher level than before the coronavirus pandemic. The internationally active family business was able to increase the share of sales from battery-operated tools to 24 percent — up from 20 percent in the previous year. As a result, almost every fourth STIHL product sold is battery-operated.

The capital structure of the corporate group remains extremely solid due to its high equity ratio of 65.9 percent. This means that STIHL can continue to finance investments from its own liquid funds. As in previous years, investments significantly exceeded depreciation. The number of employees worldwide fell by 3.6 percent to 19,805 as of December 31, 2023 (previous year: 20,552).

Unfortunately, women are still rarely represented in management positions in many technology-oriented companies, including STIHL. The system contributes significantly to the optimization of operational environmental protection and, in particular by saving resources, ensures that the targets defined in the STIHL climate strategy are achieved.
The STIHL occupational health and safety management system helps to identify and prevent work-related accidents and health risks, as well as to maintain and promote employee health through preventive measures.
By introducing a certified energy management system, STIHL is ensuring the careful, sustainable use of energy as a resource. In addition, STIHL uses suitable measures to continuously improve energy efficiency, further reduce consumption and contribute to greater climate protection in the context of the company’s climate strategy.
Our magnesium die casting plant in Weinsheim (Germany) meets the stringent requirements of the IATF 16949 quality management system for suppliers to the automotive industry. In addition to ISO 9001 certification, this contributes to increased process quality at STIHL.
