STIHL has been growing for over 95 years – sustainably, healthily and consistently. Over the years, we have gradually developed from a one-man operation into a global market leader with over 20,000 employees. And yet, we have remained a family-owned business – with traditional values and character. That is because we look to the future and think ahead in everything we do.
At STIHL, we combine long heritage with a modern corporate culture which is characterized by diversity, equal opportunities and continuous development.
STIHL is committed to environmental protection and resource efficiency at a high level. As a company with roots in the forestry sector, it also meets its ecological responsibilities, from the development of emissions-free cordless saws to the sustainable promotion of environmental initiatives. Such as the Bergwaldprojekt e. V. association, which organises voluntary work projects in the forest, or the “One Million Trees for Borneo” reforestation project, through which STIHL is actively contributing to the protection of the Indonesian rainforest. The company supports these initiatives by means of financial resources, equipment donations and knowledge transfer. One of the special features of these projects is that they actively involve the local population in ensuring that degraded forest areas can in future be socially, ecologically and sustainably put to use, thereby protecting the existing primary forest.
STIHL was founded by Andreas Stihl and is now managed by the third generation of his family. This continuity shows how much family values are deeply embedded in our DNA. As a family-owned business, we know that every single employee is an integral part of our success. We appreciate the importance of teamwork, respect and cohesion – in fact, they are the cornerstones of our corporate culture.
We value diversity and inclusion within our STIHL family. We strongly believe that including a range of perspectives and backgrounds drives our innovation and creativity. Regardless of your background, gender, age or life situation, we welcome you and encourage you to give your best.
Whether you want to work on technical innovations, support the manufacture of our first-class products or contribute your skills in other areas, with us you will have the opportunity to develop your passion and expertise in a range of fields. We are firmly convinced that a diversity of tasks inspires our teams and helps to make them innovative and successful.
A career at STIHL is by no means limited to one specific point. We believe that continuous development is the key to success. That’s why we offer numerous training and development opportunities to ensure that our employees can grow both personally and professionally. Whether they are just starting their career or already have some experience when they join us, everyone at STIHL has the opportunity to learn new skills and advance in their professional career.
Albert Yu is something of a veteran at STIHL Qingdao and has been working for our company since July 2013. With over 10 years of experience at STIHL, he has become a true expert in his field. As Manager for Petrol Chainsaws, he has immense responsibility and is instrumental in maintaining our product quality at the highest level.
What Albert most values about working at STIHL is the opportunity to be part of a company that is number 1 in its industry. His pride in being part of a globally recognised company is what drives him. What’s more, he appreciates the open and transparent communication at STIHL, which creates a pleasant working environment. Colleagues are always willing to exchange opinions and ideas and give constructive feedback.
He also emphasises how STIHL puts a high value on professional development. The company prioritises the further training of its employees, offering comprehensive knowledge and encouraging them to grow with the company. For Albert, that means he is constantly taking on new challenges and continuously expanding his skills.
Sonja Kuen is a valuable employee at STIHL and her career path so far has taken her on an impressive journey. She has several years of experience at STIHL, albeit not continuous, which enabled her to advance her career in a variety of ways.
Sonja’s STIHL story began in 2009, when she joined what was then VIKING GmbH as the company’s first operating logistics apprentice. After successfully completing her apprenticeship, she spent another two years working in production logistics management. Sonja had plans for something bigger so, having discovered her passion for logistics, she decided to pursue the “Lehre mit Matura” (Vocational apprenticeship with high school diploma) model. In 2013 she started studying International Logistics Management at Steyr University of Applied Sciences.
During her studies, Sonja returned to the company as a holiday intern every summer, and eventually also wrote her bachelor’s thesis at the Tirol site. After graduating in 2016 she moved away to Upper Austria for a few years, before finally returning to STIHL Tirol in July 2020.
Working on the major ONE STIHL global project offers Sonja variety and new challenges every day, which makes her job particularly exciting and varied. She enjoys working with a global team and the opportunity for cross-departmental process design.
Sonja’s career at STIHL impressively exemplifies the diverse opportunities and scope for personal and professional growth that STIHL offers its employees. We are proud to have Sonja as part of our STIHL family and look forward to her continued successful work with us in the future.
