Nurturing the power to grow

What my family has built over the last 100 years or so should be able to endure for 100 years more. The only way to achieve this is if we, and the generations that follow us, act with due care – in our dealings with the environment as well as those with people, resources, and the economy.

Sustainable development goals

We will continue to live up to our responsibility and actively contribute to preserving quality of life for future generations. STIHL supports the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which set out an internationally applicable framework for business operations that are sustainable at the environmental, economic and social level. That’s why we are moving ahead ambitiously, setting standards in our industry, and in doing so helping to achieve the UN’s global sustainability goals.

We remain true to our roots and are dedicated to protecting ecosystems, including by consistently addressing climate change. We want to continue developing the circular economy aspects of our processes and products so that we are conserving resources; we are also committed to providing good working conditions for everyone who works for STIHL, both directly and indirectly. In all our work around the world, we apply the same high standards to make it easier for people to work in and with nature – now and into the future.

You can find out more about our sustainability strategy and activities in the STIHL Sustainability Report 2023, which can be accessed via the link below. Alternatively, you can also download the report as a PDF.

Embracing sustainability in everything we do.

As a family-owned company which operates internationally, STIHL takes a holistic approach to meeting its sustainability responsibilities. That applies in the areas of environmental protection, the circular economy, and our duty of care.

Environmental protection

Environmental protection

Nature is our working environment – we are committed to achieving a high level of environmental protection and resource efficiency. We strive for continuous improvement in our processes as well as our products. This means that wherever possible we protect natural resources, reduce long-term energy consumption, and use energy sparingly. Our goal is to make our operations climate-neutral and sustainable.

Circular economy

Circular economy

As part of tried-and-trusted STIHL quality, we offer our customers a comprehensive product portfolio of petrol-driven, electric and battery power tools in which sustainability considerations are incorporated right from the initial product idea. STIHL products have always been characterized by exceptionally long service life, repairability and high quality – all features that mean they help to protect resources and prevent waste.

Duty of care

Duty of care

As an employer, we have the strong roots of a corporate culture, which we combine with partnership, social benefits and family-friendly working hours, to give our employees the opportunity to grow. When it comes to our suppliers, we insist on responsible labour and business practices, environmental protection measures, and transparency throughout supply chains.
