Ever since our founder, Andreas Stihl, invented the first portable petrol chainsaw back in the 1920s, our focus has been on making people’s lives easier when working in and with nature.
His design revolutionised forestry work by making it possible for trees to be processed in the forest rather than transporting them to a mill, and that innovative way of thinking still runs through our company nearly 100 years later. It’s why we’re still the world’s best-selling petrol chainsaw brand.
From a one-man operation to a global business employing more than 20,000 people worldwide, creativity, experience and significant investment in research & development have helped us to expand our product range to offer the perfect tools for everyone working in nature, whether you are a professional user or a discerning home gardener.
We’re also proud that we’re still a family-owned business with an unwavering commitment to our employees, our STIHL Approved Dealer network and our customers. And our focus on producing the best tools for the job means that we have introduced dozens of new innovations to the power tool market over the years.
We currently hold around 2500 patents for our tools and technology, and the majority of our parts and products are manufactured in-house, so we can be absolutely certain we are delivering the quality you demand.
And when it comes to quality tools, we know that the future is in battery power. Battery technology has been a key area of focus for us in recent years and our investment in this area matches our ambitions for STIHL battery tools in the long-term. Quiet and easy to use with no emissions during use, our cordless garden tools have all the power you need to get the job done quickly and efficiently, but we don't rest on our laurels either; we are always looking to improve where we can with increased working times, quicker charging options and even more impressive performance.
Another area where we are looking for continuous improvement is our own impact on the environment. We design tools with sustainability in mind so that they can be easily repaired with genuine STIHL spare parts by our global network of STIHL Approved Dealers. Our STIHL dealers will share their expert advice with you so that you get the right tool in the first place, and then help you maintain it to keep it running at its best. We continue to supply spare parts for at least ten years after a product expires as well so you can rely on it for years to come. Ultimately, STIHL is a company focussed on the future, and we have a clear strategy in place to protect it for generations to come.
